I have a 3 yr old Labradoodle who is constanty scratching. Vet says it is dry skin and give her Benedryl?

elizabethkleinert@yahoo.com asked:

Also I have tried putting oil in her food (Pedigree dog food) I have heard Nutramax will help the itching - has anyone had a good experience with this food and/or how can I control the scratching. It is winter and she has no fleas or ticks. Possible allergy to dust.
Is Nutramax a good dog food?

The instructions of your vet she is trash put her on premium or superpremium dog food and that should help everything you also need to follow the instructions of your vet.

Could be a food allergy.. pedigree is garbage dog food.

Try switcing to a grain free dog food, like Innova or Wellness Core.. or something with few ingredients.. like California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato.

I agree change to a better Quality food. Do you have a humidifier? That will help everyone.

First thing first is to maybe take her to the vet, so that the vet can check her out, and prescribe her something if it is a little worst than simply dry skin.
If you already have, and this was the only thing he said, then just continue giving her the Benedryl and the oils. It will take a little while, but the dry skin should clear up.
