What is a really good way to introduce my new puppy to my cat?

You can start by sending that poor pup back to its mother! Dogs should not be away from their mothers until a MINIMUM of 8 weeks, 12 is preferred by most responsible breeders.
During this time, they learn now to play with each other, they learn how to speak ‘dog’ and their mother teaches them so very valuable bits of information about how to handle their teeth. They also are not fully weaned and still need immunities from their mother’s milk.

purebreeddogs is right, I thought it was actually illegal to sell a dog that isn’t 8 weeks old? Anyway, just let them get on with it. When they are around each other, always supervise them, so they don’t do each other any damage! My cat was like this when we got a puppy. Eventually, they will learn to live along side each other. My cat even lets my dog lick her ears now XD
